Moving from spreadsheet reviews to Confirm
Spreadsheet reviews work at 30 people. At 100+, they break — missed deadlines, lost history, zero manager visibility, and no way to spot retention risk before someone puts in their notice. This is the fastest migration path we have.
What breaks when you scale spreadsheet reviews
Every HR team using spreadsheets knows at least two of these problems:
Chasing completions manually
Someone has to email every manager. Then follow up. Then follow up again. HR spends review season in their inbox instead of doing meaningful work. Completion rates stay at 60-70%.
No historical continuity
Last year's reviews are in a shared drive folder somewhere. Maybe. The year before is probably gone. When a manager asks "how has Alex's performance trended over 3 years?" — the answer is a shrug.
Calibration is a spreadsheet war
Rating calibration in spreadsheets means someone aggregates 50 manager spreadsheets, formats them, and shares a combined view. Disagreements happen in the room with no data to resolve them.
Flight risk is invisible
Spreadsheets capture what managers submit once or twice a year. Between cycles, there's nothing — no signals, no alerts, no way to know that your top engineer started disengaging three months ago.
What you get with Confirm
Everything spreadsheets can't do, plus capabilities you didn't know you were missing:
Automated review cycles
Configure your review cycle once. Confirm sends notifications, tracks completion in real time, and shows HR a live dashboard. 98% completion rate vs. your current 60-70%.
Permanent review history
Every review is archived, searchable, and connected to the employee's profile. Three years of performance history visible in 30 seconds.
ONA: See how people actually work
Organizational Network Analysis reveals collaboration patterns no review form captures. Identify hidden high-performers. Spot disengagement before it surfaces in a resignation.
AI manager coaching
Proactive coaching nudges in Slack or Teams when behavioral signals suggest a team member needs attention. Managers coach in the moment — not 6 months later in an annual review.
Calibration with actual data
Calibration sessions show every manager's ratings alongside ONA behavioral data. Debates are resolved with evidence, not opinion. Bias goes down. Accuracy goes up.
Goals & OKRs
Replace your goals spreadsheet with structured OKR tracking, progress check-ins, and goal-to-review linkage. Everything connected.
The spreadsheet migration process
This is our fastest migration. No legacy system complexity, no IT dependencies — just clean setup and go.
Import your data
We import your employee list from your HRIS (or a clean CSV). Any historical review data you want to preserve goes into Confirm's archive — we work with whatever format your spreadsheets are in. We configure your review cycle template, rating scales, and competencies based on your existing process.
Setup, integrations & training
Connect your HRIS for automatic employee sync. Set up SSO. Enable ONA data collection (Slack/Teams integration). Train HR admin and managers — usually 2-3 sessions. Confirm is designed to be intuitive; managers typically need under an hour to be comfortable.
Go live — first cycle in Confirm
Launch your first review cycle in Confirm. Your migration rep is available throughout. Watch completion rates climb and manual admin work disappear. ONA insights start appearing within 2-3 weeks of data collection.
Spreadsheet processes → Confirm features
Here's how your current manual processes map to what Confirm does automatically:
Questions from teams leaving spreadsheets
We have years of review data in spreadsheets. Does it come with us?
Yes. Send us your spreadsheets and we'll import historical reviews into Confirm's archive. The format doesn't need to be perfect — we work with what you have. You'll have searchable historical performance data in Confirm from day one.
How long does it really take to set up?
2-3 weeks for most teams. This is our fastest migration path. There's no legacy system complexity, no data transformation nightmares. The main setup time is configuration — review cycle structure, competencies, HRIS connection — all done by our team.
Will managers find this harder than spreadsheets?
Most managers find Confirm easier — they log in, see their review queue, complete the reviews, done. No navigating shared drives, no version conflicts, no emails back to HR asking where the file is. Average manager training time: 30-45 minutes.
We don't have an HRIS. Can we still use Confirm?
Yes. If you don't have an HRIS, we import your employee list from a CSV and you manage employee data directly in Confirm. Many early-stage companies (50-200 employees) run Confirm without a full HRIS.
